Walk-ins?

Walk-ins? I don't really recommend going to a firm/office without any appointment but there are some firms/office who encourage walk-ins and I do see some ads on the internet and the papers who require walk-in interviews. As for me I don't really see myself going to an office without an appointment. I would rather send my resume thru e-mail or the mail.

How do I start looking for a job?

  • How do I start looking for a job?

  • 1. Newspaper - If you are in Singapore, the best way to start is to buy a copy of the "Straits Times". Browse thru the job ads under the classified section. I suggest buying the newspaper everyday but the most job ads you will find would be on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

  • 2. Internet - If you have access to the internet at home then I suggest you browse the many job sites that offers free registration and you can also post your resume for companies to see. Some of the more famous job sites are:

  • Jobsdb
  • Jobstreet
  • Monster
  • ST701

Where can I find accommodations in Singapore while looking for a job?

  • Where can I find accommodations in Singapore while looking for a job? One of the most important thing you should settle first before you go to Singapore will be accommodation. If money is not a problem to you then I think you won't have any problems finding a hotel to your liking. There are lots of Hotels and Inns in Singapore from the cheapest to the fanciest. But to those who are on a tight budget, I suggest you try looking for transient rooms. There are quite a few, mostly filipinos who rent out rooms for a short period of time (1 - 3 months) or until you find a job and you decide to stay with them permanently. Another option is to share a room with someone most probably with a friend who is already in Singapore. You can bunk in for a few weeks or so just until you find a job. This would save you alot of money. But if you can find a friend who can offer you a "Stay now, Pay later" scheme then it would be much better.

What are my chances of finding a job in Singapore?

  • What are my chances of finding a job in Singapore? I say 50-50. Theres a 50% chance that you will find a job and 50% that you won't. There are no guarantees that you will find a job here. Like we ususally say "sugal lang dre". If you come here to look for a job you must also be prepared to the fact that nothing, even an EPEC does not guarantee that you will find a job.

Is it easy to find a job and how long does it usually take to find one?

  • Is it easy to find a job and how long does it usually take to find one? Well to be honest, it's never easy to look for a job anywhere, the same goes for Singapore especially with the growing numbers of people from different countries coming here everyday to look for a better future. It takes a lot of patience, luck and faith to find one. It usually takes one to three months (1-3 months) to be able to find a job that fits you. Finding an employer before coming here would be very good. Try sending your resumes to companies that you would like to work for a few days before you come here. This will increase your chances of getting an interview and give you a headstart from other job hunters like you.

When is the best time to look for a job in Singapore?

  • When is the best time to look for a job in Singapore? For me, the ideal time to come here and look for a job is after Chinese New Year. It's the time that most of the companies here are hiring partly because it is also the time that a lot of employees resign for a better job.
